James Scofield, CPA, graduated summa cum laude from the Ohio State University in 1996. He worked for two years with the Big Six firm Coopers & Lybrand LLP. After that, he became Controller at one of his middle-market clients in the agriculture industry. Since 2001, Scofield has worked in the utility / energy industry.
Scofield Professional Services was founded in 1999. The proprietor hoped he could combine the benefits of working in public accounting with those of working in industry. Scofield has excelled at identifying and implementing process improvements for his employers. By starting his own firm, he saw the opportunity to provide this service for multiple businesses. This ability grew especially pertinent after the Sarbanes-Oxley Act passed in 2002.
During his career, Scofield has had extensive experience in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, income tax filing, payroll processing, and financial control implementation.
